New Ebola nurse was a nurse, not an Ebola patient

The new nurse at the nursing home where a nurse was infected with Ebola is a nurse not an infected person, according to a nursing agency and social media posts.
A nursing supervisor at the home in the rural town of Monrovia, Liberia, said on Twitter that the nurse who tested positive for the virus is a staff member at the facility and not an employee.
The nursing agency also said that the hospital staff member who has tested positive was a volunteer who was caring for a resident of the home.
In a separate post on Twitter, the agency said the nurse had no connection to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and has no previous contacts with patients.
The agency posted that the home’s nurse is an experienced health care provider who has not experienced any symptoms of Ebola and has been in contact with patients in the past.
The agency said she has not seen patients for the past week.
The New York Times reported on Thursday that the nursing agency had contacted the home, and said the hospital had notified the local health authorities.
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene also contacted the nursing company and urged it to contact local authorities.
The nursing home, which operates at the center of the Ebola epidemic, said in a statement that it is cooperating with the nursing care organization.
“We are taking this seriously and are cooperating with local authorities to ensure the safety of all our residents,” the statement said.
The state agency overseeing nursing homes, the New York State Department of Public Health, has not publicly disclosed the case.
The hospital said on Thursday the nurse tested positive on Aug. 6 and was taken to a hospital.
The home has not yet released her condition.
The nurse who was infected was among the first to be tested.
The nurses who tested negative were among the more than 1,000 nurses who were at the Ebola treatment center in Monrovi, a town in the western part of the country.
The facility has had to close because of the virus.
