With a 1-0 advantage at the moment, the Phillies had the corners set up and were prepared to throw a grounder home. Back in position, the middle was attempting a double play.

In the bottom of the inning, with the score tied at 1, Segura came up with runners on second and third. He handled a breaking ball from Joe Musgrove with two strikes, blasting it into right centre to score two runs.

For the Phillies, Ranger Suárez was capable of the job. He got out to a hot start in the game, striking out Ha-seong Kim and Juan Soto with uncharacteristic looks. He would go on to last five innings, and just 68 pitchers were required.

Despite allowing two singles in his scoreless sixth, Zach Eflin performed his job by securing groundballs, as manager Rob Thomson accurately noted on the broadcast.
