With a brutal one-punch knockout late in the ninth round of their WBC super middleweight title eliminator today, Caleb Plant put the finishing touches on a grudge match victory over Anthony Dirrell.

Plant (22-1, 13 KO) dropped Dirrell (34-3-2, 25 KO) with a left hook to the body and then a punch to the jaw that knocked Dirrell instantaneously down and out. This was likely Plant's best punch of his whole career.

Plant will face backlash for his antics following the fight, in which he made a "gravedigger" move over the fallen Dirrell.

Plant stated following the contest that he intended to defeat as many opponents as possible at 168 pounds in order to secure a rematch with Canelo Alvarez.

This might mark Dirrell's final act as a 38-year-old. He sparred intermittently, wrestled and fouled a lot, and attempted to influence Plant's thinking, but it was never successful.
