Throwing Soup on Van Gogh’s Sunflowers Painting:Two Protesters Arrested After

After hurling canned soup at one of Vincent Van Gogh's most well-known paintings as an act of protest against fossil fuels, two Just Stop Oil activists were taken into custody.

Just after 11 a.m. on Friday, the protesters, who were wearing T-shirts reading "Just Stop Oil," hurled two cans of Heinz tomato soup over the 1888 piece Sunflowers.

they appeared to glue their hands to the wall beneath the painting while knelt in front of it.

The glass-covered image and a portion of the golden frame were stained with tomato soup.

Security quickly led the visitors out before locking the doors to room 43 of the gallery, where the picture is displayed.

Before applying adhesive to the frame, they had glued their own "reimagined version" to the portrait.
